Disquiet 05:01
Disquiet Disquiet In the winter Disquiet In the spring We struggle With the smallest Tasks Rail Against it all An accident Of circumstance An accident Of birth So tenuous And fleeting Proving our own Worth It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time To heal It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time To heal Some time To heal Disquiet In the summer Disquiet In the autumn Checking the rear view Mirror For what's Yet to come We suffer For understanding We suffer For our art All the while Waiting for another place To start It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time To heal It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time To heal Going to other People's parties Where we don't Want to be Painted smiles Stale cigarettes or Stilted afternoons With tea Raise me up Or bring me Down Cheap whiskey In my glass You can only Dice the truth So many ways When you re-litigate The past Disquiet In the summer Disquiet In the autumn Checking the rear view Mirror For what's Yet to come We suffer For understanding We suffer For our art All the while Waiting for another place To start It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time To heal It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time To heal It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time It's going to Take some time To heal Some time To heal It's going to Take some time To heal Some time To heal

Giving Is Always Much Harder Finally, we take Stock of our lives We're swimming Through the murkiest Waters Time, it marches on It imperils our Sons and our daughters Like despair, in a Tindersticks song Their imprisoning Children on the border Random, like a Zodiak Sign, predictive of Human behaviour And disorder And we take Oh, but we take Giving is always Much harder There's always Hope There's always Hope But it's slipping away Ever farther And we take Oh, but we take Giving is always Much harder There's always Hope There's always Hope But it's slipping away Ever farther I was there for you Could you Be you There for me? Always something Pulling us back Something That we can't see Wipe, these salty Tears, crying seems so Damn reactive Subtlety Age-worn expressions We make but Memories are fading And selective Grieve, like We've always grieved A bushel of pain At the market Soul, dirty as This coal That bespoils Our once clean Environs And we take Oh, but we take Giving is always Much harder There's always Hope There's always Hope But it's slipping away Ever farther And we take Oh, but we take Giving is always Much harder There's always Hope There's always Hope But it's slipping away Ever farther Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Mmmmmm...

The Rain 04:52
The Rain And the soul Bears the blame As the land's Drenched With rain The intent Was not the Same as The outcome When the Pain stabbed The heart Ripped her Whole world Apart All the poetry And prose Does not Need repeating We've gone Around and around For years Fooling ourselves Now it's all lost My dear The storm's Moving In There's a crack In the sky Over and out In the Blink of an eye. And the soul Bears the blame As the land's Drenched with Rain The intent Was not The same The intent Was not The same The intent Was not The same As the outcome And the soul Bears the blame As the land's Drenched With rain The intent Was not the Same as The outcome When the Pain stabbed The heart Ripped her Whole world Apart All the poetry And prose Does not Need repeating And the soul Bears the blame As the land's Drenched With rain The intent Was not the Same as The outcome When the Pain stabbed The heart Ripped her Whole world Apart All the poetry And prose Does not Need repeating Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh...

Georgian Bay Cottage Summers in Georgian Bay We had a Cottage there Built by my Grandfather Before the Great war A simple A-Frame To start Then we built On to it With lumber Way North of here Near Lake Superior And the days They would Never end Laughter and Tanned bodies On the shore And the days They would Never end Water so Clear, deep And cold We always Wanted more Paddling an Old canoe Made out of Birch bark Just 'round the inlet The Island Beausoleil Barbecues And camp fires All of our family There The legend God Kitchikewana The Canadian Shield Tom Thompson's "Pine Island" Samuel Champlain Was there Back in the 1600s Before Midland was a town And the days They would Never end Laughter and Tanned bodies On the shore And the days They would Never end Water so Clear, deep And cold And the days They would Never end Laughter and Tanned bodies On the shore And the days They would Never end Water so Clear, deep And cold We always Wanted more We always Wanted more And the days They would Never end Water so Clear, deep And cold We always Wanted more And the days They would Never end Water so Clear, deep And cold We always Wanted more We always Wanted more

Constant Turmoil When the violence Comes you strap on Your headphones to Block out the chaos That ensues all Around you now It's a messed up World and we're Lonely and scared Lost in the crowd Of voices being Their loudest selves I had a dream That it all was over The bickering And the screams The incendiary horrors Don't lose the thread But it's twisted and coiled And frayed at the ends Of our constant Turmoil When the desert Runs dry no Oasis with water You fall back on Your inner self The provisions stored There An unholy Alliance A constant Death spiral The push and The pull A re-setting of Life's fragile dial I had a dream That it all was over The bickering And the screams The incendiary horrors Don't lose the thread But it's twisted and coiled And frayed at the ends Of our constant Turmoil Brisk strolls Down these dead End streets Old shop-keepers Peddling their wares Rich tourists with Unruly kids Zero patience And unforgiving Stares I had a dream That it all was over The bickering And the screams The incendiary horrors Don't lose the thread But it's twisted and coiled And frayed at the ends Of our constant Turmoil I had a dream That it all was over The bickering And the screams The incendiary horrors Don't lose the thread But it's twisted and coiled And frayed at the ends Of our constant Turmoil
